In Year 4 children focus on Problem Solving skills throughout the year. They are taught how to use what they already know and the steps to think about in solving different kinds of problems. Within the Curriculum there are lots of opportunities for them to practice a range of problems solving both inside and outside the classroom.
Children are expected to read regularly at home for pleasure. They should become fluent at their multiplication and division facts for all their times tables. The Y4 library slots for changing books is on a Friday. For information on reading records and other home learning click here.
Home learning goes home with the children on a Friday.

At Western we have an ‘Open Door’ policy. If you would like to see a teacher please pop in at the end of the day. We politely request the end of the day as teachers are responsible for their children in the morning however, if it is urgent we will endeavor to cover the teacher. Feel free to make an appointment at the office.
