‘Learning together with love, compassion and respect’
Our Christian values of love, compassion and respect help us to establish a caring and inclusive environment, where all children are valued equally and will be given the greatest opportunity to develop academically, emotionally and socially to the best of their ability. This enables us to achieve our aims of creating successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.
Western Church of England Primary School – founded 14th June 1878
Terms of Union with the National Society
Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the church at parish and diocesan level. The school aims to serve its community by providing education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers all its pupils.
Christian values
Our values describe what we believe is important to live well. Both Christians and those with different or no faith will agree that love, compassion and respect are key values for life. They are Christian values not because they are unique, but because we understand love, compassion and respect in the light of God, especially the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
Of course, these are not the only things that are important in life but love, compassion and respect have shaped the Western community for many years.
Living our values
Values are not simply understood, but felt and lived out – they involve heads, hearts and hands. As well as teaching about love, compassion and respect, we will help children act in ways which are loving, compassionate and respectful, so that the values become ‘second nature’.
